RedCap technology standards accelerate the development and innovation of 5G IoT

　　With the announcement of the 3GPP RAN meeting to freeze the 5G Release 17 (R17) standard, it means that the RedCap new technology standard for 5G for medium and high-speed IoT is ready, and it will further expand the intelligent new scenarios of 5G Internet of Things in the future.

　　RedCap, also known as Reduced Capability NR, literally means reducing NR capability. During the standard research process, some manufacturers also called it NR Light or NR lite, and later 3GPP officially named it RedCap

　　In 3GPP R17 version, RedCap is widely used in three major business scenarios: wearable devices, industrial wireless sensors, and video surveillance.

　　1: Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Enhanced Mobile Broadband)

　　2: Massive Machine Class Communication (mMTC), Massive MachineType Communication)

　　Another application area that deserves widespread attention is time sensitive communication (TSC), Time Sensitive Communication)。

　　The network capabilities required for these three scenarios are between 5G high broadband (eMBB), low latency (URLLC), and wide connectivity (mMTC). In the deployment process of 5G networks, if eMBB, mMTC, URLLC, and TSC are supported in the same network, it will maximize the satisfaction of various IoT industry application deployment scenarios.
