  When the potentiometer is rotating, its corresponding resistance value changes with the rotation Angle, and can be divided into X, Z, and D types according to the change law.   Type Z is an exponential type, and its resistance changes exponentially according to the rotation Angle (see change curve chart). It is often used in the volume adjustment circuit, because the hearing characteristics of the human ear for sound are close to the logarithmic relationship (this logarithmic relationship refers to the attenuation decibel value change relation 20logX, not refers to the resistance change, pay attention to the following D potentiometer), when the volume from zero gradually becomes larger in the process, the human ear is the most sensitive to the volume change hearing, When the volume increases to a certain extent, the human ear gradually becomes dull. Therefore, the volume adjustment generally uses an exponential potentiometer to make the volume change sound smooth and comfortable.
