The working principle of radar circulators

The working principle of radar circulators is based on Faraday rotation effect and the anisotropy of magnetized materials. When electromagnetic waves pass through magnetized materials, their polarization direction will rotate. By utilizing this feature, circulators can achieve unidirectional transmission of electromagnetic waves between different ports.

Specifically, radar circulators typically have three ports: input, output, and isolation. When a signal enters from the input end, it will be output at the output end through the Faraday rotation effect of magnetic materials. If the signal attempts to be transmitted in reverse from the output end, due to the change in polarization direction, the signal will be absorbed by the isolation end, thus achieving the function of unidirectional transmission. This design not only improves the reliability of the radar system, but also reduces signal loss and interference.
