The radio frequency admittance level gauge consists of a sensor and a control instrument. Sensors can be installed on the top of the compartment using rod, coaxial, or cable probes. The pulse card in the sensor can convert the level change into a pulse signal and send it to the control instrument. After calculation and processing, the control instrument converts it into an engineering quantity display, thus achieving continuous measurement of the level. The sensor of the radio frequency admittance level gauge is a metal rod or flexible metal cable coated with Teflon, which needs to be inserted into the measured liquid body. In this way, a capacitance will be generated between the metal rod (cable) and the metal tank wall that accommodates the measured liquid. This capacitance is amplified to a sufficient measured electrical admittance value in an RF circuit (frequency up to 300GHz). If the measured liquid forms a layer of upper oil and lower water after layering, it will form three capacitance values of C1, C2, and C3. Because the conductivity of water affects the value of C3, the capacitance value measured by the radio frequency admittance level gauge mainly depends on the value of C3. Therefore, the height of the water level is almost directly proportional to the value of C3.
