Introduction to commonly used RF connectors

  N-type connector

N-type connector is a threaded medium power connector that can be rotated and locked. It was one of the first connectors capable of transmitting microwave frequency signals. It has the characteristics of high reliability, strong vibration resistance, excellent mechanical and electrical performance, and is widely used in wireless equipment and instruments under harsh vibration and environmental conditions, as well as ground transmission systems to connect RF coaxial cables. It can be exchanged with similar NG type products internationally. N-type connectors are typically used in the frequency range of DC-18GHz, divided into 50 Ω and 75 Ω based on their characteristic impedance.

Application scope: wireless, telecommunications systems, outdoor RF cables, instrumentation, waveguide transmission systems, etc.

  SMA connector

SMA connector is a widely used coaxial connector with small threaded connections. It has the characteristics of wide bandwidth, excellent performance, high reliability, and long lifespan. SMA connectors are suitable for connecting RF cables or microstrip lines in RF circuits of microwave equipment and digital communication systems. There are two types of impedances, 50 Ω and 75 Ω, with a general withstand voltage of 500Vrms and an outer diameter of 1.24 and an inner diameter of about 4.13mm. SMA connectors are suitable for microwave applications in the frequency range of DC-26.5GHz.

Application scope: Telecommunications, networking, wireless communication, as well as detection and measurement instruments.
