Global allocation of 6GHz frequency band for 5G/6G systems
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a new version of the "Regulations on Radio Frequency Allocation" (Order No. 62 of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, hereinafter referred to as the "Allocation Regulations"), which officially came into effect on July 1st.
The Classification Regulations are the fundamental administrative regulations for the development, utilization, and protection of radio spectrum resources in China. They play an important role in promoting the rational and effective use of radio spectrum resources and guiding the high-quality development of the radio industry. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in accordance with the Radio Regulations of the International Telecommunication Union, takes into account the medium and long-term demand for spectrum resources from various departments and industries, and regularly organizes revisions to the "Classification Regulations".
In this revision of the "Classification Regulations", the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has taken the lead in globally allocating all or part of the 6425-7125MHz frequency band for IMT (International Mobile Telecommunications, including 5G/6G) systems. The 6GHz frequency band is the only high bandwidth and high-quality resource in the mid frequency band, which combines coverage and capacity advantages, making it particularly suitable for 5G or future 6G system deployment, while also leveraging the advantages of the existing mid frequency band 5G global industry. The determination of its regulatory status in the form of regulations this time is conducive to stabilizing the expectations of the 5G/6G industry, promoting the global or regional division of 5G/6G spectrum resources, providing necessary mid band frequency resources for the development of 5G/6G, and promoting innovative development of mobile communication technology and industry.
