ISM frequency band
The Industrial Scientific Medical Band (ISM) in Chinese means Industrial, Scientific, and Medical respectively. Therefore, as the name suggests, the ISM band refers to a frequency band set aside by various countries for use by industrial, scientific, and medical institutions. Applying these frequency bands does not require a license or fee, only a certain transmission power (usually less than 1W) needs to be followed, and it should not cause interference to other frequency bands. The regulations for the ISM frequency band are not uniform across countries. In the United States, there are three frequency bands: 902-928 MHz, 2400-2484.5 MHz, and 5725-5850 MHz, while in Europe, the 900MHz frequency band is partially used for GSM communication. 2.4GHz is a common ISM frequency band among countries. Therefore, wireless networks such as IEEE 802.11b/IEEE 802.11g, Bluetooth, ZigBee, etc. can all operate in the 2.4GHz frequency band.
Type A (footnote 5.138)=This frequency band is designated for ISM applications. The use of these frequency bands for ISM applications requires special authorization from the relevant regulatory authorities and agreement with other regulatory authorities that may apply the radio communication service. The regulatory authorities should give due consideration to the latest relevant ITU-R Recommendations
Type B (footnote 5.150)=This frequency band is also designated for ISM applications. Radio communication services operating within these frequency bands must accept the harmful interference that these applications may cause.
ITU RR (footnote 5.280)=In Germany, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, and Switzerland, the frequency band 433.05-434.79 MHz (center frequency 433.92 MHz) is designated for ISM applications. The radio communication services operating in these countries/regions within this frequency band must accept the harmful interference that these applications may cause.
