Global collaboration in the mobile industry to accelerate 6GHz standardization and ecological development
On December 17, 2021, the 3GPP RAN Plenum decided to initiate standardization work for U6G as a new frequency band authorized by IMT. After half a year, the standardization of the new frequency band authorized by U6G has been successfully completed, which is the result of the joint efforts of global telecommunications operators, network equipment manufacturers, terminal and chip manufacturers, instrument manufacturers and other industry partners, indicating the determination of the mobile industry to accelerate the promotion of U6G IMT. In the future, the industry chain will develop U6G mobile networks and terminal products based on the RF standards defined by 3GPP, and promote the soundness of the 6GHz IMT ecosystem. Currently, leading countries and operators have conducted 6GHz IMT field tests, and it is expected to achieve pre commercial deployment of 6GHz IMT by 2025.
The next World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) will be held in 2023, which will be a valuable opportunity for governments around the world to coordinate 6GHz spectrum strategies and discuss the development of the global telecommunications ecosystem. The mobile industry has reached a preliminary consensus on the use of U6G for IMT. As early as WRC-19, it was decided to establish the AI 1.2 topic research U6G IMT logo for WRC-23. It is believed that more countries and regions will recognize the importance of 6GHz in supporting the sustainable development of the mobile industry, jointly promote the global U6G IMT logo, and accelerate the digital transformation process of various countries.
